Rossendale Borough Council have established the Rossendale Connected Hub which will launch on Thursday 26th March to support communities, families and individuals facing challenges presented by the Coronavirus outbreak. Rossendale Connected is a partnership between Rossendale Borough Council, Rossendale Leisure Trust, the Rossendale Primary Care Network, Burnley Pendle Rossendale CVS, and a wide range of community partner organisations and volunteers. The Hub will be based at Adrenaline in Haslingden and will fulfil four key purposes:
- Sharing information with the community relating to the Coronavirus outbreak
- Connecting families and individuals to groups and volunteers who can help provide food and essential supplies
- Connecting individuals with other services particularly around loneliness and social isolation
- Co-ordinating local volunteering
Communities are encouraged to continue to informally support family members, friends and neighbours who need help and it is expected that this will continue to be crucial as the situation develops.
Leader of the Council, Alyson Barnes said “Once again Rossendale has shown how closely our communities work together and how well we respond to difficult circumstances. The unseen loving support that people are giving within communities is both incredibly touching and crucial in looking after local people. Thank you to everyone for all they are doing. Please keep safe, follow the guidance to prevent the spread of the virus, and we will come through this with even stronger and better connected communities.”
Neil Shaw, Rossendale Council Chief Executive commented, “The Council are working with partners across the community to rapidly establish Rossendale Connected to support local people. We recognise the difficulties people are facing and area aligning resources to support this collective effort. We encourage you to continue to support friends, family and neighbours – and for those who need additional support, we encourage you to contact Rossendale Connected. I’d like to thank the health works, partner organisations, volunteers, and council colleagues for their commitment, dedication and hard work in responding to this unprecedented crisis.”
