Health Referral Programmes
Rossendale Leisure Trust runs several schemes and health referral programmes that aim to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of the valley. We can support you in several ways to help you work on your own health and wellbeing. Whether it is physical activity, managing your weight or setting goals to achieve results in improving your wellness, there are several local schemes that can support you. Our Cardiac Rehab programme is a specialist health referral programme that grants access to specialised cardiac classes, including educational sessions with a qualified instructor. The programme lasts for 12 weeks at a cost of £30. To access the Cardiac Rehab programme please contact your GP or Health Professional. (No self-referral scheme available)
Funding through our partnership with CCG.
If you feel you need extra support trying to manage your weight you could be eligible to self-refer to our Weight Management scheme. Our scheme includes one educational session per week plus access to online classes. Also included; access to gym, swim and fitness classes across our facilities.
The Weight Management programme is 12 weeks for £30. To access the Weight Management programme your BMI must be 30 and over. Self-referral and Referral via a health professional are accepted. Please call 01706 221524 to get started.

Up & Active
Up & Active has a targeted offer, focusing on inactive adults (16yrs plus) with one or more long term health conditions. Structured support will be given to increase physical activity and effect positive change to mental health and wellbeing. We run a 12 week programme to support you in finding the confidence and knowledge to get started with a more active lifestyle.
Our Up & Active programme is 12 weeks at the cost of £30 (minimum of 1 session per week). If you are unsure whether you are eligible for one of our programmes, please contact 01706 221524. To access the Up & Active programme you must be registered with a GP in Rossendale and have one or more of the following Long Term Condition.
• Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoporosis, Joint replacement, Back pain, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Hypertension, Mild Mental Health issues, Respiratory Conditions – mild to moderate
• Focus around mild to moderate mental health and Musculoskeletal issues.
*Conditions must be stable

Health & Wellbeing Manager
As Health & Wellbeing Manager my role includes overall management of the Trusts fitness based activities, along with leading on our GP referral schemes including Weight Management & Cardiac Rehabilitation. New roles including Health Coaches and the Fitness Team leader are also line manged by myself. I have a background in fitness instructing/group exercise and believe that despite circumstance everyone should have the opportunity for physical activity to benefit their life’s in a positive way. Within my role I take pride in trying to engage the community with the Trusts values and creating relationships with partners across the borough of Rossendale
Julie is U&A’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Manager, responsible for the managing and delivering C.R. support across Rossendale with 16 years experience!
I love all aspects of my job, from the colleagues I work with to the clients I support. The confidence I give my clients to continue with an active lifestyle and the appreciation I receive at the end of their rehabilitation keeps me motivated!
Fiona is a member of the Up and Active team and has been for the last 5 years and is responsible for getting Rossendale fit and active! She has 12 years of experience and is still as passionate about her role as day one.
I enjoy helping my clients make progress and achieve what they didn’t think would be possible, it makes my day. Meeting such lovely people and building those client relationships is also so rewarding, watching them come from Up and Active to then have the confidence to join the gym and attend alone with the knowledge of what they are doing makes me love my job.
Janet has been in the leisure industry for nearly 15 years now. She has been apart of UP and Active for nearly 5 years working as Weight Management and Exercise Specialist.
I’m a people person that loves meeting new people and learning about their lives and their backgrounds. I can almost always find common ground with our new members, and I like to think people can feel comfortable in my presence.
Chatting about health and wellbeing is something I love, and I pride myself on making sure people have the right information. When someone is well informed, it drives better results in their mental and physical wellbeing.
As an individual, I am ambitious and driven, I see myself as results oriented, constantly checking in with our member’s goals to determine how close or how far away we are and what it will take to make it happen. Plus, I thrive on challenges and constantly set goals for myself and my members, I love how this pressure inspires and motivates our members.
