Last Friday, She Runs officially launched at Marl Pits Running Track, bringing together partners and community leaders to mark the start of a powerful new movement.
Thank you to Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Councillor Kimberley Whitehead, Andy MacNae MP, and Gemma Rooke, Chair of Safer Rossendale, for attending and supporting the launch.
A Movement for Safer Running
She Runs isn’t just a running project – it’s a movement focused on safer streets, stronger communities, and empowering women and girls to feel confident running outdoors, especially after dark.
The launch event kicked off She Runs Launch Week (26 January – 1 February 2026), with running clubs across Rossendale hosting “Light Up” runs and distributing free visibility merchandise to help runners feel seen and safe.
A huge thank you to the Rossendale running clubs who supported Launch Week: Rossendale Leisure Couch to 5K, Monday Run Club, Harriers Run Club, Rossendale Triathlon Club, Casked Running Club, Robin Hood Runners, Rossy Runners, Move with Mollie x Isabakes Run Club, and Junior Parkrun Haslingden.
Working Together for Change
She Runs is funded by the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner, with support from Andy MacNae MP, Sarah Smith MP, Councillor Samara Barnes, and Safer Rossendale – all committed to empowering women and girls to run with confidence.
